There is more to your experience than what fits on a page.
Most people know how to describe what they have done. Fewer know how to explain why it matters.
Questions
- Have you ever struggled to explain what makes you different from someone with similar qualifications?
- Does your resume reflect the work you've done or the professional you've become?
- What would change if you could see your experience through the eyes of a hiring manager?
- Are you underselling your qualifications because you don't recognize their value?
- How do you communicate your value without feeling as though you're bragging?
- Is your cover letter adding to your story or repeating what the hiring manager already knows?
If these questions resonate with you, Merit & Method is here to help.
The problem I saw
Many capable professionals struggle to communicate the value of their own experience. They describe what they have done without fully articulating what they learned, accomplished, or can contribute in a new role. Resumes become lists of responsibilities, and cover letters repeat the same information rather than explaining why a candidate is suited to the opportunity.
In a competitive job market, possessing the right qualifications and communicating them effectively are two different skills. When candidates struggle to represent themselves, there can be a disconnect between what they are capable of offering and what an employer sees on paper.
Merit & Method was created to address that disconnect. Through tailored application materials and individualized interview preparation, I help candidates recognize the value of their experience, connect their qualifications to the opportunities they pursue, and communicate what they bring with clarity and credibility.
Experience informs perspective
My background in federal government, experience working with hiring managers, and education in organizational psychology shape how I approach career preparation. I understand the hiring process from multiple perspectives: how employers evaluate candidates, how job requirements translate into the knowledge, skills, and abilities organizations seek, and how candidates can communicate their qualifications effectively. Having navigated interview processes myself, I also understand the importance of preparation, interview structure, and knowing what to expect.
At Merit & Method, I bring these perspectives together to help clients position themselves with clarity and purpose. From refining a resume and developing a compelling cover letter to preparing for an interview or evaluating a career move, I provide individualized guidance, objective feedback, and practical recommendations tailored to each client’s goals.
I founded Merit & Method on the belief that effective career guidance should be accessible, transparent, and grounded in the individual’s best interests. Rather than offering generic templates or inflated promises, my approach focuses on helping clients recognize their value, communicate their experience effectively, and make informed decisions about their professional future.
